What is The 12 Week Coaching Group?
The upcoming 12 Week Coaching Group is a course that helps people gain food freedom, obsess less about food, and end the dieting cycle of restriction and overindulging. In this course I teach tactical, practical strategies from a food philosophy called #moderation365. In addition, we work on mindset, mindfulness, and habit creating and breaking.
I create a private Facebook group in which participants engage on a daily basis. I post the weekly lesson there, and participants post their homework there. It's the perfect accountability group.
The "special sauce" is in a weekly individual coaching phone call, as well as texting between calls. Each participant has a weekly opportunity to check in with me, ask questions, get clarification, support, guidance, and accountability.
How was this 12 Week Coaching group born?
I have taught group fitness off and on my whole adult life, and I have been a personal trainer for the last 6 years. As I gained experience as a personal trainer, it became obvious that fitness/weight loss/health was about so much more than working out. Yes, exercise is crucial for many reasons, but I realized that nutrition played an even bigger role in getting healthy.
I then became certified as a nutrition coach through Precision Nutrition so that I could help folks with exercise AND nutrition. As I set to work applying what I learned, I then realized something else. A client's attitude-- her mindset-- played a HUGE role in the attainment of her goals. In essence, whether she thought she could or she thought she couldn't, she was correct. My wheels were turning-- there were so many moving parts to this wellness thing!
I stumbled upon a book called Willpower Doesn't Work by Benjamin Hardy that further convinced me that weight loss is not simply clean eating and exercise. I then dove down the rabbit hole of habits and behavior and got a Behavior Change certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
All this time I was working on my own mindset, habits, nutrition, and exercise. I loved (and still love) being my own guinea pig. My heart and my mind were opened in a big way and I have been reaching for a better version of myself every day since.
I began to wonder how I could share what I had learned with more than just the women I was training one-on-one. That's when I got the idea of an online program. I hesitantly offered a course called "The Wellness Project" to a small group of women in one of my group fitness classes. They said yes! All 5 of them! Thus began my first online program.
The Wellness Project has been through many iterations. I am okay with that-- I think of it as a living, breathing, ever-changing process. First I called it The Nutrition Challenge, but it turned out to be about way more than nutrition. Then I called it the Wellness Challenge, but I soon realized the word challenge did not encompass what the process entailed. It felt more like a project, so I changed it to The Wellness Project, and that stuck for a while.
Then I happened upon #moderation365 one day during quarantine, and I loved that the food philosophy lined up with what I already teach. It was a great opportunity to further my education and to offer more to my clients, so I jumped in with both feet. At this point in time, I have passed my test and have turned in my case study, and am now just awaiting my certificate.
How much does the Coaching Group cost?
The cost is $300. If you would like to pay in installments, I am happy to work something out for you.
When does the next Coaching Group begin?
Enrollment is open until April 2, 2021. We begin on April 12, 2021.
